About me
Over the past 20 years, I’ve worked for the Mail, the Telegraph, The Times, the Sun on Sunday, Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping, Stylist and Homes & Antiques. My most recent staff role was Deputy Editor of Country Living.
I have a postgraduate diploma in Magazine Journalism from City St George’s, University of London and an MA in Philosophy & Theology from Oriel College, Oxford.
I teach journalism through City Lit and have completed a City & Guilds teaching qualification. I’ve also taught English language and literature at a leading secondary school and hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate.
I’m known for my approachable, accessible style - and my Maine Coon.
My services
Whatever the topic, I’m happy to cover it.
I’ve worked on stories for newspapers and magazines about everything from pets to politics, health to homes, books to baking, crime to crafts and film to fashion. I’m annoyingly versatile.
I’m available for old-school reporting, deep dives, profile interviews, background research, quick explainers, thorough edits, light edits, copywriting and in-house shifts.
AI is great, but it can’t sound like you (yet).
I support businesses in getting their message across and connecting with their customers. I can help you devise a brand strategy, develop the right tone of voice, expand your social media presence and find press opportunities. Need a writer or editor? I can help you with that, too.
I also offer training to PR agencies and media companies.
I've designed and taught courses on writing for magazines, newspapers and online media, writing arts reviews and writing about food. Sign up to one of my City Lit journalism courses or chat to me about a bespoke session or course.
I've also guest lectured at universities - and am available for more.
Thinking about a media career or just want to improve your writing? Drop me a line.
